Xiamen was voted the second most liveable city in China. Xiamen mainly consists of Xiamen Island (the main part of the city), Gulangyu Island (a popular tourist area, boasting attractive colonial houses and which is car-free), the north bank area of the Jiulong River and Tong’an County. Xiamen is a vibrant, modern city with a great pace of life and is connected by fast train to Fuzhou, Hangzhou and Shanghai to the north and Shenzhen to the south. Clean air, lots of greenery, beaches and a fascinating mix of Chinese, Western and local Fujianese culture combine to create this unique city.
